As a kid I couldn't beat the second to last level. All that lava. I played it a few years ago and it wasn't bad.

Seriously though, just marking doors that require certain colored keys on the map would be infinitely better. Lost again.

I remember getting scared as fuck every time I would see a baron of hell appear in a level, it was awesome.

Not scared in a he is so scary! Kind of way, but in a he will kick my butt and I don't have enough ammo, and he is making all these weird sounds kind of way.

I bought Doom 2 on Steam and I must say that they are fun games lol. I recommend also playing Star Wars Dark Forces as well. Super fun games.

Iirc, GZDoom does exactly that. It's an amazing engine to play Doom on.

Iirc, GZDoom does exactly that. It's an amazing engine to play Doom on.

Running it in most source ports (I use ZDoom, but the above GZDoom is probably the most feature-rich) will let you set it up however you want. I play it with a gamepad and have movement tied to the joysticks like a console FPS.

Same. Also, I've mapped the digital pad for weapon hotkeys. Up for shotgun, down for chainsaw, left for rocket launcher, and right for plasma rifle.

If you can make it through the first two levels, the rest is much easier, save another spike at level 6.

I don't think I can make it through the second level unless I'm missing something really obvious. I simply can't pull off the jump around the blue skull block consistently enough to make it worth my time.

Yeah, E4M2 is pretty rough. I'd say it's the hardest level in Ultimate Doom. Don't give up though. You can do it!

It's at the end of the canyon on the right side of the level. After you get the yellow key and jump to that door in the top right of the big lava pit.

How the hell do I get the yellow key?

It's in that room to the left side of the level, you raise the floor by stepping in that one lava spot, then go back out and walk around.

Pretty convoluted puzzle imo.
