Rather than a race to the bottom, I've seen it suggested the cities should collectively bargain, which I think is smart.

Why should taxpayers be happy that their money is being spent subsidizing a company worth $650 Billion?

All most of them will get in return is more traffic congestion within their city.

Yeah it's basically like cities are saying "please come here and destroy our infrastructure and make our citizens commutes way shittier and we won't even make you pay any taxes"

Exactly.

I live near Dallas; one of the supposed top contenders for the new Amazon HQ.

We don't need another 50,000+ people moving here, driving up real estate and rent prices, congesting our already overloaded highway system, and god knows we don't need any more of the endless suburban sprawl than we already have.

Ugh, yeah I dodged that one. Saint Louis was vying heavily for it before the recent cut to the top 20 or whatever it was. We even offered them their own terminal at the airport.

This seriously

I was planning a move out to Frisco next year and its already ruined because of the Toyota HQ they built/building there right now. Traffic has gotten noticeably shittier these past 3 or so years in the metroplex, we dont need more inflated prices on apartments and rental homes plus the added traffic

I will literally move solely because of that if it ends up here.
