I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sometimes CE is wrong. I mean, sure, I think Mulaney is the greatest sitcom ever made and Genisys is the best Terminator movie, but that doesnt make me a contrarian. That makes me a unique individual with correct opinions.

But yes, the X-Files myth arc is hot garbage now.

I wouldve called it the worst, but then I remembered Dexters finale. Even then, it might actually be worse because pretty much the entire episode is narration over flashbacks to a payoff that weve already seen. And the editing is more nauseating than Marvel movie action scenes.

I've enjoyed this season far more than last season. Not having Joel McHale's terrible character fouling things up helps.

What even happened to Joel McHales character? Or wait, he was part of the endgame plague storyline that the premiere was a flashback of, right? I cant even keep track of what the hell is happening anymore.

Episode 2 is about the Lone Gunmen guy and more government conspiracy crap. Why cant they have standalone monster episodes like the fluke man or a serial killer like the death fetishist anymore? Those simple stories were infinitely more interesting than government coverups and backstabs and the Cigarette Smoking Man monologuing about how evil he is.

Yeah, I dont want to spoil anything major (not that it matters at this point) but hes more talkative and less compelling than ever. Also, everything having to do with William is horrendous.

The myth episodes during these revival seasons has been like a brick around the series' neck. They are off putting as hell. All three come off like rambling fever dreams. They're practically incoherent.
S11 Ep1 wasn't nearly as bad as S10 Ep 1 & 6 but I think it was because I was prepared for it this time.

I don't know. I was prepared for disappointment and it still blew me away at how atrocious it was.

Episode 3 felt like an X-Files episode at least. The doppelganger killings felt like a story out of season 1.
