It's not awful, but impo its not great. The controls feel off to me for some reason. The levels are kinda boring with a few exceptions and the music is unmemorable.

Most complaints I've heard were due to Wily's final form, and the overall animation style.

Personally I like the game alot, and thought the look was amazing. I had always wanted to see the previous games redone in that style. Great soundtrack too.

Yes Wily is a pain in the ass, but you can learn the pattern.

My only gripe with it was mega man himself. You were a lot bigger on the screen, so there was less room to see what was around you. Your hitboxes were wonky, and it was often hard to tell how close you were to the edge without falling off.

It's one of my favorite Mega Man games, but I have to admit that its criticisms are mostly valid; large sprites make it feel clunky & difficult to dodge enemies + their attacks, the game is too easy for the first half, then has a sudden difficulty spike as soon as you reach the Wily Stages, and some of the instrumental choices are a bit... questionable.

It's actually the only Mega Man I've played that I still haven't been able to beat. Mega Man 1, Dr Wily's Revenge & III for the Game Boy were certainly tough, but Wily Capsule 7 is something else (plus I'm a bit stingy/self-critical about using too many E-Tanks).

I find it actually impressive, considering they developed it in an incredibly short time. I have never played it, but from what I have seen in LPs, it seems like a decent game.

Its not that bad, it just doesnt feel right compared to the 8 but games. The buster feels weaker, jumping feels waaaay more strict, and in general theres this weird offense to it. I have a soft spot for the sprites because of Bob and George though

It's a huge step down from Mega Man X

In fact, when I was a dumb kid, I thought Mega Man 7 came out before Mega Man X because of how much of a step down it was.

it feels much slower and nowhere close to as tight as the NES games, the huge ass sprites make all sorts of things annoying, and Slash Man is just garbage. the final boss is ridiculous too but even that I think is more fun than Slash Man.

those are my main gripes with it. i would say overall it's a fun game. but it's a weak link among the classic series, not counting the Game Boy games it has a strong case for being the weakest one.

1) Wily
2) The fire crap in Turbo Man's stage

4) Really overdid it with the adventure elements, without providing satisfactory locomotion mechanics. Or in other words, if there's no dash, nobody wants to look all over for collectables.
