Dogs have been explicitly bred as companions/tools over something like 13 thousand years. Pigs have been explicitly bred for food over nearly as long. That's the logical reason.

Lol. I think Pepys is a vegan (Albeit an extremist one) and I can actually respect a vegetarian or vegan saying you shouldn't eat dogs. At least that's consistent

Also taste is probably what'd make me not want to eat dog. I really don't think they would taste good

I pretty much agree. If you're gonna eat meat, might as well extend that meat to include dogs. Either eat them all or don't eat any of them.

There's a pretty clear emotional reason, everything doesn't regard logic. We domesticated them and used them to hunt with us in our earlier history and the fondness stuck so it's taboo in a lot of cultures.

There's no dogfarms that I know of in the majority of if not the entire western world and no import of dog meat either, so I'd say it's logical to not eat meat that has spent its life eating human waste and waste products in general.

Dogs were not bred to be food; they have very little muscle tissue relative for their mass. Further, they were bred to be companions to humans and are happiest in the presence of people unlike cows which will tolerate pens for a longer period of time, making eating dogs especially cruel.
