That sounds like someone trolling people online, tbh. I only say that because I know a dude who does what you're saying for the exact same reason I stated.

Well that is part of the power of the word really. Unrelenting negativity and the ability to get a rise out of lots of people.

Seems pretty nonsensical to encourage its popularity. I don't recall other racial slurs having this problem, not to this degree. Wonder why. >_>

Honestly he uses it as a gambit. He's simply trying to be cordial and friendly so if people wanna use it in place of "bro", "dude" and so on, he's completely fine with it. It's generally to agitate those who are uncomfortable using it themselves and hey, it clearly worked on you. But you know, it's just a calamity of negativity with no thought behind it, right?

Regardless, why are you against free speech?

You're acting as if people using it to hurt black people would stop if black people didn't say it. The only difference is that white people wouldn't say it to be cool.

Lotta talking out your ass there Kineth.

Everyone's free to say anything. And there are consequences to all of that. If you want to say the n-word, there are negative consequences for that, if you're white. And there are negative consequences to it, if you're black, too. Because it's a word steeped in negativity and ignorance, and some black people deciding they want to call themselves it in what is like some bizarre linguistic offshoot of stockholm syndrome just makes them look silly and ignorant and somewhat detracts from complaints from black people of being offended by the word when the number one group working to keep the word alive, is black people.

Im also confused on where i said it ruins my life? It dont i dont say it nor do i want to say it. And black people do say that word a lot and its rampant in the hip-hop and inner city community. And then they get pissed when a white person says it (rightfully so).

Because they're perplexed by the notion that black people are allowed to do something because of the color of their skin and that's not considered racist, but if white people do that same thing, it is. Isn't having differing standards for different races... racist?

Racism isn't just prejudice, but prejudice based on the the belief that one's race is superior. No one said white people can't say the N word because they're racially inferior, they're barring them because it's fucking rude.

Once again. You're pretending that the word would disappear if black people didn't say it. Would black people be justified in beating the shit out of white people saying it if black people didn't say it? What exactly would change? The word would still exist, white people would still use it when they want to. And black people would rely on white people to punish white people who do. But "hurr durr, the real problem is black people popularizing it among themselves".

Perhaps black people are judged for the n-word. I don't doubt it. If you use ANY word or phrase gratuitously I will probably judge you. You know what else I judge people for? For saying really, really
dumb things like half of the people on CE. And unlike verbal quirks and phrases, I'm not concerned that I'm judging a book by its cover.

I have already stated my concerns with the n-word in general. But it will continue to happen so whatever...

How often do you see people get called the K-word? What about the S-word? Do you even know what words I'm referring to?

I'd imagine everyone here, has probably heard people get called the N-word, more than those. And there's a reason for that.

It's really not some radical notion to say if you popularise a word, it will be used more. You're trying to...basically use the argument people use against any kind of gun control: "If this won't completely remove the problem 100%, what's the point?!?!" as though mitigation of any magnitude is just irrelevant.

How many of those races have an even somewhat similar relationship that African Americans have with White people. You've probably never noticed this, but while black people may not like it, it generally doesn't bother them NEARLY as much when another minority says it.

Turns out, when you enslave a race for a over a hundred years, then oppress them for over a hundred years, your race has a unique relationship with their race that causes differences how both races treat each other. I mean, you'd have to be some type of moron to think that the racial slurs applied to other races hold the same historical impact that racial slurs towards black people in this country.

This is what someone says when they have no argument whatsoever...

Whether you want it to or not the n-word will never come off as intelligent regardless of who is saying it.

So this is about more black people performing to your standards. You can't acknowledge the intelligence of someone who might use this word, context be damned.

Who the fuck asked you to flap your gums and offer your backwards-ass opinions about any of this, coming in here with 'black people shouldn't...' as though anyone has the position to address an entire race of people with this bullshit, let alone your willfully ignorant behinds? About shit that ain't got shit to do with you? Where do you get off? Why is it so hard for you to just let people be?

Clearly you are the type of person who doesn't actually want to hear anything other then your agenda be spouted and will eagerly dismiss things that don't fall in line.

The way you spout your tripe makes you look silly, you should talk to gunplagirl you two would get along swimmingly...

At least the other people making actual arguments like adviceman and beantown are in this topic and it's not full of people like you who just plug your ears and go "nanananana, i can't hear you."

Oh. you're talking about my Curb Stomp on MLK topic the other day? I even said that it was a funny coincidence and nobody is making a big deal out of that except for you. Nobody and I do mean nobody is calling for Seth's head but keep pretending that we are

It did happen before, but it also happened last night and people got up in arms all about it again. I guess he can't do his finisher because something happened in a movie that came out 20 years ago

Show me examples. Where? My topic? Or the other dude topic?

How often do you see people get called the K-word? What about the S-word? Do you even know what words I'm referring to?

I'd imagine everyone here, has probably heard people get called the N-word, more than those. And there's a reason for that.

It's really not some radical notion to say if you popularise a word, it will be used more. You're trying to...basically use the argument people use against any kind of gun control: "If this won't completely remove the problem 100%, what's the point?!?!" as though mitigation of any magnitude is just irrelevant.

Yes. Because I've heard people be called both of those before. I've only been called the n-word in a way that made me angry 3 times. Twice by cars rolling by me while I was walking, and once at a party where the kid got beat up by the people there.

Now what would be minimized? People using it to be cool. As annoying and ignorant as that is, I've never thought to fight someone for trying to connect with me on that level. I simply don't associate with them. Once they realize it's not getting them the level of respect and camaraderie that they were expecting, they usually stop saying it around me, and then suddenly I can be cool with them again.

The N-Word, as a verbalized weapon on a historically oppressed race isn't going anywhere. And quite frankly, if I were a white person, I hope to god that I would have the shame and sense to not blame a regrettable word being in our vocabulary and having continued use on the people it was originally used against.

Offering chicken to be nice =/= stupid jokes especially towards strangers. You do know about the racial stereotypes about chicken and black people right?

To be nice I said. When I'm at work, I offer a lot of people food because I work in a middle school kitchen, where as it so happens to be, we serve chicken sometimes. We even have watermelon. Guess how many times I've been called a racist because I ask if they want chicken when they're standing there looking at the chicken? And by law, they have to take a fruit or veggie with their lunch, and guess how many times I got called a racist because I told them they had to go get their fruit, and sometimes it's watermelon? A lot. A fucking lot

boo hoo. I feel sorry for you :( Tell me more about your rough job. Or you can choose to ignore the complaints.

Do you think it's racist? Or just oversensitive people?

do you really not see the irony of complaining about people being "oversensitive" when you yourself are being oversensitive about their comments?

That is such a fucking stupid argument...

They are okay with it because it's not fucking respectful to say it, and if a white person is using it towards a black person it's almost always antagonistically...

Seriously...you're complaining about a joke?? So who's the senstive one complaining about a stupid joke now?

And most if not everyone in that topic are hyped about the return of Curb Stomp.

Oh and the video itself, the youtuber made the same joke that I did. Again, whats the problem?

Nah its not a stupid argument. I guarantee you this is the only reason a non-black person who hangs out with a group of mainly black friends doesnt use it. Also just so you know Im not even white btw
