Not sure exactly where Ill be staying but my travel is paid for, Ill have a car, and I can spend up to $50/day on food

What should I do in my free time

Tenderloin district. Youre sure to get approached by hoes.

If that doesnt interest you, visit the Palace of Fine Arts, hang out around Union Square, drive past the Golden Gate Bridge go up the hill and find yourself a nice view of the Bridge and the city.

I recently visited the De Young Museum, and it was pretty dope.

I hear that the modern art museum is cool, too, but I haven't seen it yet.

Six Flag is nowhere close to SF, it's like a 2 hr drive during rush hour, and rush hour is 7am-7pm.

I like concerts a lot more than museums

I often go to shows alone tbh

A museum seems like something thats more enjoyable when you can share your thoughts on stuff whereas theoretically a show is about listening to the music

We got tons of clubs. Yoshi's, DNA Lounge, New Karibbean City, Uptown Bar and The New Parish are some good ones.
And fuck what Mal says, you can eat good on 50.

My plan is to request a room with a kitchen since Ill be there for almost a month, if for some reason they have a problem with that Ill just have cold food for breakfast (which I do most days anyway)

But more importantly where are these good restaurants? I dig a good brewpub. Or since its on the coast maybe seafood

Do not park in the area by Ghirardelli's. We had our car broken into in the 30 minutes we were in there as did 4 other cars within about 2 blocks as we came to find out. Went to the police station to file a report and "Yeah that's a bad area." was those asshole's response to it all. Maybe do something about it then huh. Cameras, patrols. Worthless assholes. Be careful. Don't let the look of the area fool you. It's bad.

If you want the best chinese food you will ever have in your life. Go to Hunan Home's Restaurant. It's in Chinatown near downtown if I remember right. Park your car in one of the secure parking lots nearby. It is worth whatever wait there may be. It's authentic. Great prices. It may not look like much from the outside but it is hands down the most amazing chinese food I've ever had.
There's a fish tank right inside with a pufferfish that kept puffing up every time a kid got near the tank. Not with adults. We sat right next to it and it was quite amusing.

If you have time like on the weekend. If you're allowed to with the car. Take a day. Head south towards San Jose and go to Big Basin state park. Beautiful can't even begin to describe it. Coastal redwood forest. If that's too far and you don't have that much time then go across the Golden Gate and go to Muir Woods. The crowds are like Disneyland but it'll give you a taste of redwood forests.
There's also Alcatraz which I found disappointing and Angel Island which is way better.

Enjoy the cool weather and fog if there's any.

Ike's Sandwiches. Look it up. My personal recommendation is the Menage a Trois, I think it's their most popular sandwich. It'll probably be crowded though, if it's peak time

Go to Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf for clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and also to see the sea lions (mostly inedible)

i'll keep the stuff about the car in mind, and i definitely don't want to deal with that, but i'll be driving a company vehicle so really my biggest concern with a breakin would be the paperwork

would def like to hit up a park, time permitting. I'll have two full weekends, assuming they don't want me to work saturdays

i did alcatraz as a kid so i'm not in a hurry to get back.

So weird to see this. I went their on Friday for the first time.

TC slims, yoshis, DNA lounge all seem like places you might want to check out. Even if just a starting place people their might put you onto good leads.

Eat lots of Mexican because if you're not in CA or Texas you're not finding good Mexican.

You have a month so I'd explore. Weekend in reno or Tahoe. Check out the redwoods. Make it down to the beach, take a kayak on the bay.
