Stock got downgraded by BOA this morning and continues to fall.

I'm with Darkman that there is a buying opportunity here, I just don't know where the floor is.

if it's a restatement of what we already know it's not getting any worse

I have zero idea what any of the terms means in this topic, but I just find it fascinating to see other people discuss stocks and speculation here. It makes me realize that behind every company there are investors backing them and that unless you speak their language and are up to date on whatever they do, you have no idea what is happening. For the normal layperson who doesn't know stocks or trading, this is just fascinating to see.

Carry on everyone. I hope everything goes well.

If it makes you feel better, most investors (or traders as the case often is) don't know what the hell they're doing either. That's why we see so many bubbles and people buying into them, and panic selling fueled by overreaction to negative press. The biggest profit opportunities come from the irrational behavior of others. It's been this way for as long as there was a stock market, too. People weren't any smarter back in the old days, and they certainly aren't any wiser now.

I currently have $5,882 to trade and own:
VTWO 13.7%
VOO 13.9%
VIOG 7%
BND 5.3%
VXUS 8%
VTI 13.7%

Are there any other ETFs I should look into, or should I put more money into something I already have?

almost neutral right now on GE, so if this is the start of a new bull market for the stock there's a lot of potential

the numbers don't point to them collapsing and neither does their 2018 guidance

but people's fear that they will collapse has made the stock very cheap relative to peers

it's either a deep value play or a value trap. i think there's little evidence it's the latter.

this is a high risk play in pursuit of that, as is my overweight to smallcaps (since they've underperformed SPY on this rally, but should benefit more from the policies)

we will see what happens. i am trying to keep a healthy level of fear at these valuations

if we ever split it'd be clear what goes where but our objectives are built around using both her and my accounts, and we share 1 checking acct from which ROTH contribs come for both of us

VO, the vanguard mid-cap ETF

I am curious what you think I should do with my monthly contributions to my roth.

Do you think I should purchase an equal weighted of ETFs with the contribution, or change it up each month and buy whatever I think has most upside? For example, one month I purchase only VTI with the $458 contribution or if that should be split up between my holdings by a certain weight?

There are no transaction costs, so I could theoretically just purchase 1 share at a time.

i think adjusting a monthly contribution to maintain your target balance is a great idea! vanguard has a 'rebalance' button that i hit about once every 3 months.

doing it based on your own personal analysis of the underlying equities may blow up in your face, however.

What do you think is a good way to determine how my portfolio should be weighted?

And I don't see a rebalance option in my Vanguard account. Maybe because I haven't set the weights? Not sure, looking around and cannot find something like that.

it is an annoying way to keep bearishness high. investors are clearly much more freaked over the uncertainty than anything else

at worst it reveals that the stock they used to buy baker-hughes was overvalued and they owe BH shareholders some extra dough

at GE's size these kinds of costs should not be triggering 10%+ drops. their 2018 guidance was good. that's what i care about; with a revenue stream the size theirs is, these valuations are absurd. no other industrial is valued at comparable rates.
