If you have the willpower to say "no" to the upselling and promotion shilling (which is obviously not the employees' desires, but rather corporate instruction), then you won't have a problem.

But we know TC is a troll account anyways so, yeah

And it's none of those are exclusive to GameStop. All retail employees are encouraged to upsell, discuss promotions and sales, suggest add-ons, discussing "items of the month" at every register to every customer, etc.

I don't really get the GameStop thing. They've always been nice to me. I guarantee they've probably laughed at me after leaving, if I bought something they thought was a bad game, but I've never been openly disrespected.

They're always pretty cool about checking their database to help me find things that aren't in stock, and it's not too hard to just say, "no thanks," when they push the preorders and stuff.

I say this in every Gamestop thread:
If employees are taking home the "new" games, they are breaking company policy and that is a fireable offense if their DM hears of it. And if a manager allows it, that is a fireable offense as well.
