Welcome everyone to the BEST SIMPSON'S EPISODE EVER TOURNAMENT! PRESENTED BY CURRENT EVENTS!

As the first topic in this idea I've had for awhile, here is the basic groundwork.

INTRODUCTION

I looked at the Top 24 episodes of Simpsons ever, as based on user star ratings on IMDB. The list is from 2015, but I doubt anything in 2015 and beyond would belong on this list. This list has a nice little two sentence explanation of the episode if you do not have episode names memorized. In each topic I will also explain each episode that we are voting on.

The 1-8 seeds have a bye in the first round, since that seems appropriate. Every day (or maybe twice a day depending on how 1-sided a vote gets) we will put up a new poll and see which episode out of the two is considered better. Winner moves on, loser is dropped. There will be a third place vote as well.

THE COMBATANTS!

TREEHOUSE OF HORRORS V - The family's job at Mr. Burns' country estate goes awry when Homer goes mad; Homer's attempt to repair a toaster results in inadvertent time travel; The school staff turn cannibalistic.

KINGSIZE HOMER - Determined to avoid a work exercise program, Homer intentionally gains weight in order to qualify for disability and work from home. However, he soon realizes that being morbidly obese comes with its own problems.

This is a bit of a tough one... Treehouse of Horror V is the best of a legendary series, but King Size Homer is my "underdog" for this series & one of the show's funniest episodes overall...

As much as I love Treehouse of Horror V, I have to go with King Size Homer. Its one of my all-time favorite Simpson episodes.

Yeah, it's one of my favorites too, but the time travel is just epic, had to go with that one.

That said...

Marge: Your father can be surprisingly sensitive, remember when I giggled at his Sherlock Holmes hat? He sulked for a week and then closed his detective agency.

V is one of the better Treehouse of Horrors, but I just can't go past Kingsized Homer. On the whole I think it's the stronger episode, but maybe I'm biased against the Treehouse ones since they're anthologies or whatever.
