it's a ridiculous price and you know it. 3 times the price of a car for a bunch of bricks and hardwood lol, when people built houses for 10k hundreds of years ago

oh well it's your money

this has got to be the most juvenile understanding of adult life I've seen on CE in some time

People in this topic are serious surprised at dropping mid to high five digits to completely remodel a kitchen?

I bet they think it's only a few thousand to redo a roof too.

I literally do this for a living. Roofs range from 1200 bucks to 50g. Depends on what you're doing.

The two other small time contractors I know very closely both laughed at 75g to remove and replace a bearing wall, and remodel a kitchen. Then offered to put a bid in.

Dude got hosed. And that's from a guy in this industry. He paid 75g to a guy who didn't even clean up.

I seriously hope that's solid Birdseye maple on the cabinets and the most expensive countertop money can buy. Holy shit.

And then, with all that, its still small and poorly laid out from the photos here.

My.
Lanta.

this was a different job. kitchen was ~$55k. The not removing garbage on time was a deck job worth about $1500. The $75k is total I have paid him for all jobs in the last ~21 months.

Regardless, i assume you are trolling since a metric shit ton of women have creamed themselves over my kitchen. Like girls that were just kind of meh on me before were super into me after they saw my kitchen.

The best feature there is the dual height island. That's a great idea.

The fridge and its adjoining wall could be 8-10" further back. She's narrow in there. Huge pissoff for me in new construction. The bedrooms are huge and the kitchen is el tiny.
Cabinets look good. I do enjoy darker cabinets. Always look nice. Nothing worse than going into a multi thousand dollar kitchen remodel and putting in painted white cabinets. Holy hell, waste of money.

well, yeah. lots of things i do are solely because it impresses girls.

regardless, this is seattle. It is close to being a world class city. I generally paid my contractor $25/hour and his employees $20/hour. Labor costs can save a lot depending on the local market, but labor is expensive in seattle. State minimum wage is currently $11/hour. Local minimum wage is $15/hour.

For a world class city, that's a garbage wage. You paid him less by the hour than my area pays. That's 35/hr for a competent worker where I am. Now that's a guy who shows up every day, does all the purchasing, has subtrades lined up, etc. That's a real carpenter. Not some nimnod who can't be arsed to pick up his trash.

Now I don't know what to say. To me you still massively overpaid for that kitchen, but, you paid a junk wage.

Who handled the materials purchasing?

Also: LOLOLOL @ dropping 75g on kitchen and basement upgrades, and bitching about reno'ing your rental properties and not making money, and THEN, bitching about what minimum wage is. As if it matter a tinkers damn to you.

Oh, and the point about impressing girls?
Clean over your head.

It actually is

I did it once with some friends when I was a kid with "fake" money from one of those places where you go and play/work and get paid fake money to buy stuff on the fake city
