I knew how to cut grass but never knew there was taller grass in National park above Goldenrod city. Generation 2 was just so amazing with the "LESSER!?" technology at the time.

Well, to avoid wild Pokmon. If you were somewhere where you would have to walk through grass to reach a Pokmon center. Like say, you were in the middle of a lot of tall grass. Basically, you could cut it to avoid battles. I guess.

Never played Pokemon but I see you have to go into a menu every time you want to do something. This leaves me to ponder how this game ever became popular.

Prof. Oak actually calls it tall grass in the beginning. In other words, grass that needs to be cut.

lol, alright, I understand. Just so you know there's a few moves and abilities that work on the overworld.

Diablo, the Divinity series, Planescape: Torment, Revenant.
None of those are that menu focused.

yeah you could do it to avoid fights but overall it wasn't worth it because of how long it took to go thru the menus just to cut a little bit.

I did it in R/S/E and FR/LG but only when I had to get to a certain point in the game. I was glad when Pokemon got rid of having to cut grass to get anywhere.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever known this. No one has ever mentioned it in my presence but it makes so much sense.

It also makes you wonder why the world of Pokemon just lets grass get taller than an 11 year old kid everywhere.
