I saw it in IMAX 3D. The IMAX stuff actually worked really well.

my major issues:

The pacing - This was easily a major drag on the film. The movie just kept... going <_< It was like the Energizer bunny. Just... kept going and going. And not even in the Return of the King sense where it just never ended. I'm not sure if it was that action packed or that devoid of actual substance(which it has actual substance don't get me wrong). Definitely could've shaved some of the excess down. One too many scenes of them shelling the Resistance fleet. Also, the jumping around from location to location didn't help the pacing much.

The visual effects - It's bad when some of the effects in the prequels are more believable than the bad effects that are just present enough to be noticed. >_> Some of the aliens looked hella hella hella hella hella bad or just so obviously CGI'd it really made me wander if they actually put effort into. And I know they did because it's Star Wars. Ghost Yoda broke me though. How did that ever make it past the first look? It was so bad. Prequel Yoda hopping around looked better than whatever abomination they came up with for this movie. But the scene where Snoke had Rey in the air looked just straight unfinished. like honestly, just like they ran out of time and shoved it out the door. I don't know if it was the red backdrop, bad CGI, or what but looked BAD

Those were my 2 major problems with the film. Some shots near the beginning of the film just looked wonky and out of place, specifically shots during the bombing of the special non-snoke star destroyer that i can't remember the name of atm. but short of being able to show clips of what i mean and exactly when and where, it may not bother or come across that way to other people. and they're not badly shot scenes, they just... look off a bit.

But overall I did enjoy it. I don't really disagree with what happened to certain characters though I do feel they wasted Snoke, but I also didn't like how OP he was in the force. But I also don't like how OP force powers in general have gotten.

The only plot point I didn't really too much care for was Leia getting straight rekt but then surviving cause of the Force. That would've been a semi-lame way of killing her but it also would've probably been the best way to kill her off because of Carrie's death oh and the contrived/forced/whatever you want to call it Rose/Finn kiss at the end then her dying. Actually Finn should've died, honestly. So far he's felt about as pointless as the death sticks dude in Episode II

Some people have just... totally missed the themes of this movie. Some are acting like they straight did not watch the movie and are just going off of a quick spoiler breakdown or plot synopsis. The movie is structurally sound and nothing really feels unexpected. People going on about "oh why did Luke try to murder Kylo?" when it was clearly addressed in the film why, and the visceral reaction Luke had to it. <_<

This is not a flawless film, as I noted above. But as always, if there's even the slightest thing weird or wonky or whatever about a blockbuster film it's the #worstthingever

Honestly, I thought the rocks that Rey lifted at the end was probably the worst looking CGI in the film.

The quality of the CGI covered a wide spectrum, but at least they nailed it where it was needed most: Snoke. He looked believable and there was the potential for it to go so, so wrong. Rogue One facial animation tech applied to a deformed alien looks damn good.

He was actually a real puppet. The weird CGI glow they gave him sort of ruined the fact that they were using actual puppets like in the original trilogy, so it SHOULD have looked perfect.

I feel like they couldve shortened the casino planet part. I get why they did it, to develop Rose and show a bit of her backstory and to introduce that force sensitive kid at the end.

Also I feel like the makers of this movie responded heavily to all the fan theories after 7 came out. They teased the double turn, they confirmed Kylo being Luke's apprentice although that was pretty obvious, and they disolved all the rumors of Rey being related to anyone important by making her some random. It sucked that they wasted Snoke tho and I feel like we'll never know how he came to.

I really did like the theme of "Let the past die" tho. I feel like everyone and their mom was so outraged when we found out that Rey is just some nobody (how the hell did Kylo know that anyways?) but I like it. Star Wars had been ruled by the Skywalker's stories for so long that it feels nice having this fresh face unrelated to no one and the teasing of the force kid at the end gives that hope of more unknowns to continue the jedi (and maybe sith) ways.

I did find it ironic tho that Kylo wanted to abolish everything yet he literally did the sith thing of the apprentice killing the master yet again <__<

The Jedi changing forever was represented by Luke at the end of ROTJ.

But they had to ruin Luke.

She was worse than that. She had a gun she could use to kill Finn but decided to pull out a car antenna instead to fight him?

Pretty sure Ghost Yoda was the puppet from the OG...that was a point. Or at least a mix of puppet/cgi. They were definitely drumming up the nostalgia there.
