Roy Moore is a thing that seems to have harmed Alabama's reputation, but often, they say they are thankful for Mississippi because otherwise, they would be the worst state. Has that changed or does it remain true?

Been to Atlanta a few times but never to Mississippi.

With sports aside they both have never did anything to me.

Mississippi is generally known to have more in the way of culture (the Delta blues started there after all) while Bama obviously has a lot more sports history. A lot of the deep south is very similar although I know people have different definitions of what makes it up. On the fringes it definitely bleeds into some states that aren't all the way deep south (like Florida). I might argue appalachia in general is shittier than the deep south. Or the great expanses of nothingness in the north - Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas etc.
