Not really, an RX 480 was like $230 MSRP a year and a half ago and a $60 CPU from last year outperforms the Xbox One X CPU. The actual specs of what you're getting aren't anything you write home about.

so build a similar machine for less
ill give you $100 dollars if you do

RX 480 8GB - $230
G4560 - $60
Mobo - whatever $60 one
Case/PSU - whatever cheapo $30-$40 bundle
RAM- whatever 8GB DDR4 for $90.
Keyboard/Mouse - whatever $20 bundle

Then you have basically the same thing spec wise plus you don't have to drop an extra $60 up front on XBL as well.

I'll take my $100 pls.

You can get Windows 10 for between $10-$25 depending on where you look, I got a copy from play-asia for $15 a year or so ago. A monitor isn't necessary like you already said, and I mentioned getting a cheap kb/m bundle. You don't need an expensive "gamer" kb/m unless you're going to be playing highly competitive games at a more serious level, which to that I could argue that even the Xbox makes you pay an extra $150 if you want to get a "professional" competitive controller.

Lmao whoops. Well I guess that's up to the individual. Just fill in the blank since it's up to you how much space you want. $50 is probably a good one to cite since it's 1TB but you could also spend as low as like $20 or as much as a few hundred if you wanted to.

The RX 580 is just a rebranded 480 so they're effectively the same thing.

Well I think you can find 6gb 1060's for $250 or so which is the same tier as a 480. So I guess add $20-$30 but you're still dealing with something much more capable than the One X and with upgradability down the road to be significantly more powerful as well as not having to pay $60/y for online.

Yeah this is the best I could do with a brief browse solely on PC Part Picker and just following the post and adding the stuff that was missing.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RKm67h

$700 with the Ultra 4k Blu-ray player. That's the real killer. It would be under $600 without it.

If someone else can change parts around for cheaper go ahead.

There's a lot to criticize with the Xbox One X but the price you pay for the hardware isn't one of them.

When it comes to hardware cost consoles will always have the advantage when it comes to price. These consoles are designed to be sold for years. They go cheap with CPU, hard drive, RAM etc. and developers work around them to get the games working. This is a luxury PC's will never have.

But PC has the upside of a more open ecosystem. You're not in a walled garden and you have a lot of options. If you don't want to pay for online? Don't. You can also make a build for precisely what you're looking for. Want something that plays modern games at 1080p/60fps? That's easy to make. You don't have to buy a pro/X version of a console and hope developers patch in that option.

In reality there's no reason for anyone to build a PC that does exactly what the Xbox One does. It would be wasting money. I would recommend getting a Xbox One S if you really cared about 4k Blu-ray over getting a PC drive.

You can reliably buy a controller for $35. But, yeah, it is why he has to add a controller or a keyboard/mouse into his build to be of similar nature.
