My brother and I saved up lots of money one year so we could go to the AnimeUSA convention in VA. It was going to be for my birthday, and basically a once in a lifetime thing. My parents ruined everything and we didn't get to go. Then to put salt in the wound, my mom went on a shopping trip the day we were supposed to go. She was as happy as a lark, while my brother and I were at home getting cussed by my father for being stupid for wanting to do something for once...

I still get pissed when I think about it. We were both adults, but they threatened to call the law on us for stealing a bunch of stuff/money from them if we left. So yeah, we just gave up.
