Well, it took me 13 hours to get to where she lives including a pretty f***ed up Greyhound bus ride as Hermiione was too uncomfortable to pick me up from the airport.

When the Greyhound dropped me off, apparently, they had recently switched stations so where Hermiione went to pick me up was now just an empty parking lot. Being the ditzy little girl she is, she got lost a bit, but finally found the vicinity of where I was.

I got a text message on my phone telling me where she was parked. When I looked it up on Google Maps I saw that it was only a block behind me and my heart started racing.

I walked over to her location with a rolling suitcase in hand as I saw the make, model and color of the car she described to me. "That's definitely her car." I thought to myself. Hermiione has poor eyesight, so I probably saw her before she saw me but when I finally made eye contact with her, I coudln't stop smiling.

I got into her car and was like "Can I put my suitcase in your trunk" and she fumbles and bit and she's all like "... I don't know to open my trunk :(" and we just lol and I just threw my suitcase in the backseat.

Once I was situated, I sat in the passenger seat, let out a deep breath and I asked, "So... where are going?" to which silence and she stuttered "I-I don't know".

Being the proactive person I am, I suggested "Well... let's go to the mall then!?" where she sort of stuttered back "Okay.." shyly and asked, "Do you want to drive?"

So we do the old Chinese fire drill and swap seats with me being in the drivers seat. I have to change my chair pretty substantially because Hermiione is actually a bit shorter in person than I'd imagine. (I'm 5'10, she's 5'4')

I start the engine up and try to maneuver myself out of the curb side parking. There's actually two cars in front and behind us to which I exclaim, "Wow, [her name]. You actually parallel parked?"

She replies: "No. I was parked here first and then some a****** decides to come park right next to me :("

So I'm turning the steering wheel and backing up a bit and she's all like "oh my god. Please don't hit any cars." and so I'm extra careful as I try to maneuver my way out. No sweat.

At this point, I only sort of know where I'm going so I pull up my phone as I'm driving so I can find directions to where I'm going, because, keep in mind, I have never ever been to this town before. This worries the Hermiione and she keeps on telling me "Oh god. Don't crash." as I ignore her and try to focus on driving. Literally every 2 minutes she'd yelp something like "Don't hit that car ):" but she eventually relaxes as we're on our way to the mall.

I pull up into the mall's parking lot and try to find a place to park. The mall isn't too big, bear in mind, her town has only about 80k residents. I swing around trying to find a place close to the entrance and notice this huge pile of left over brown snow taking up about 4 parking spaces.

I point it out to Hermiione and say to her, "Wow. I didn't know you guys collect huge piles of cow s***." She says something like, "Oh yeah. You mean you don't have that where you come from?" or something sarcastically. This pretty much sets the tone for our interaction for the rest of the trip.

Oh yes! I forgot to mention. Hermiione was wearing a plaid skirt, nude tights and a red and white letterman style jacket. She also had an Ash Ketchum hat in the car with her that she showed off.

But anyways, we get out of the car and start walking into the mall. I'm starving so we immediately try to find the food court.

The interesting thing about this trip is that her town is mostly dominated by white folk and Asians only have a 1% demographic hold in her town. This strikingly contrasts the place where I live, the West Coast, where in some neighborhoods may be as high as 30-40%. I felt like I received weird stares, particularly me being with a substantially... youthful girl in a appearance and that she white.

This could have all been in my mind though, but I was pretty self conscious being in this new environment.

We get to the food court and there are like.. 5 options, two of which I remember are like, Subway and Chinese food I was deciding against. Well, being of Asian decent and knowing what "good chinese" food is, and, me being in pretty much the middle of no where with only a 1% Asian population, I decided against the Chinese food and opted for the Subway. Hermiione had already eaten at this point so it was just me.

Got me some spicy italian, aw yeah.

I get my sandwich and we find a place to sit and talk a little bit. I can't remember what we were saying but I do remember that it was surprisingly comfortable to be with her. I always imagined it'd be awkward, but everything just felt really natural. We were cracking jokes as we would online, we were talking to each other as if we were talking on Skype. It was almost like we were video chatting, but everything felt HD.

I finish up my sandwich in a jiffy and we decide to wander around the mall. Our first stop was this one store which name escapes my mind, but Hermiione said "Hey! Let's go to [that one store]. They have really weird things there!"

Well okay, I guess I can go through it fast.

We went that "weird store" and it was pretty weird. It had like, anime stuff but also sexual things. There were some FMA nick nacks and Hermii would point and be like "Oh my god. Oh my god. Look! LOOK", jokingly of course. And I'd point to other weeaboo things and be like "OH MY GOD NARUTO".

There was this section in the back of the store that just sold... weird sexual things? Like rubber toys that were like... breasts? I pointed it out to to Hermii and I told her to squeeze in which she was too embarrassed to so I think I reached out to one of them, gave it a squeeze and made a "honk honk" noise or something. I can't even remember.

As we left the store, Hermiione was like "Oh my god. We should go to game stop!" and we walk over. I'm pretty sure as we were inside the store, Hermiione was all like "Imagine if we were to posts on CE that were inside a Gamestop together right now. Imagine all the butthurt they would feel" and we both laughed.

I tried playing with the new Wii Wii as I was inside. A lot of it was also a lot of looking around and sarcastically pointing at games, e.g. "hello kitty kitchen" or w/e and exclaiming "oh my god i need dis".

But whatever, moving on. We go to several other stores, hop around, yada yada, an hour or so pasts by and I suggest that we make way towards my hotel so we can check in.

We leave the mall, get back into the car, I pull up directions and I start heading over when all the sudden, we see that right in front of us was a Toys 'R Us. We're both like, "OH MY GOD TOYS 'R US! WE SHOULD GO"

I asked her, "wait, really?" and she says "Yeah, why not yolo" and I'm like "K yolo" and we pull into the Toys 'R Rus.
