Maybe they want the extra cash? I mean, they get paid hourly, that's like 80 bucks or so they get less if they weren't working. Add in time and a half and bam!

Our water in my area tastes really bad out of the tap. It tastes like it got filtered through rocks and fish.

True. At my work we get double time and half if you volunteer for holidays or get forced to work. Or you can take a floating holiday which is a free day off whenever. But I'd rather have my day off.

I need to swing by my local market as well for last minute purchases. For better or worse at least these employees are paid extra and the hours are usually shortened to allow them to join their family in the later afternoon/evening.

We have a water cooler like office buildings do at my house. So we get five gallons of water at a time. Most places are 20-25 cents a gallon. We spend $1.25 a week on water so it's not bad at all.

Bottled water would definitely be way more expensive.

They should be giving their employees a day off.

Like some professions don't get holidays. That's to be expected for those people. Certain vital services need to be available all the time for life and limb. It used to be that retail, banks, government, offices, etc. would observe those holidays. It's very recent that retail is open on Thanksgiving. Like when I was in the US before, I forgot to get a meat thermometer for the turkey so we had to wait until the next day to go buy one and cook the bird. Nothing was open save for convenience stores.

And to think they're starting black Friday shit today? It's essentially eliminating a huge holiday for the lower working class to serve everyone else. It won't be long before they're also working Christmas day and further alienated from people close to then in the name of working a job they probably don't have a choice in taking.

I say this as someone that's volunteered for any holidays possible and will be working Christmas day... It should not be the norm in retail.

Lol, imagine thinking any large corporation owned grocery store still knows what the phrase "time and a half" even means.
