However, it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort to climb the ladder, and any misstep or infraction and a person can fall back to the bottom (I'm also not very forgiving, but I can be if I feel like someone isn't likely to fuck up the same way they have before, which is rare, but it's happened). It's all about finding people who aren't trying to get more from you than they're willing to offer you. I can trust people with whom I can be on a 2-way street. I won't allow myself to be a dead end because that's not cool (and let's face it, it's in human nature) and I don't have the time or energy for anyone else who would be a dead end to me. However, it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort to climb the ladder, and any misstep or infraction and a person can fall back to the bottom (I'm also not very forgiving, but I can be if I feel like someone isn't likely to fuck up the same way they have before, which is rare, but it's happened). It's all about finding people who aren't trying to get more from you than they're willing to offer you. I can trust people with whom I can be on a 2-way street. I won't allow myself to be a dead end because that's not cool (and let's face it, it's in human nature) and I don't have the time or energy for anyone else who would be a dead end to me.
