- 6 expansive worlds
- a top-down overworld and sidescrolling levels inside of buildings, tunnels, and sewers
- the ability to take control of the Turtle Van and mow down enemy soldiers
- thematically appropriate plotlines

Sure, it stinks that Krang is absent, but if the dam was a little more manageable and the side scrolling levels never increased difficulty after the third level, I think it would be a fairly appreciated NES gem.

It's not bad from a creative or functional standpoint. It's just insanely difficult and sometimes for the wrong reasons.

terrible stage design, though

there's one area in particular where the jump is nearly impossible to clear

Enemies respawn outside screen limits which is extra bullshit when each area is just loaded to fuck with them. Also Raphael is useless.

Raphael is anything but useless. Love me my damage sponge.

I could get to the part where you had to defuse the bombs underwater. I was like 5 the last time I played it.

Agreed

The average player doesn't get passed the Dam. I like the game but I've never gotten up to the 3rd stage boss before.

Also a tiny misconception about the game, I think that 'Krang' technically are in it. The game's enemies are more from the comic with some cartoon elements thrown in.

Here's the game cover.

and here's the full picture

I believe the Utrom (Krang) do appear as enemies in their android bodies in the game.

I don't think I've ever seen the full image before. Neat.

That said, it wouldn't be the only TMNT game to feature characters on the cover who aren't present in the game.

Your benched turtles (Raph, sometimes Mike) are great for holding subweapons.

And the dam is great!

Yep, good point. Also I'd say The Manhattan Project is my favorite of the NES titles.

I loved TMNT 2: The Arcade game, played that with my brother quite a bit. We also played Manhattan Project and Turtles in Time too, which were also good games.

I think people exaggerate how difficult the dam part was. It was tough but not impossible. I still never got past level four though :(

The only true BS parts imo are:

- the enemy sprite respawning
- figuring out where tf to go in stage 3
- finding the technidrome
- the final stage is ass
