The way he writes narrative history while keeping it entirely non-fictional is so impressive. I found myself rooting for characters who I knew were going to like...die, or whose fate I could find out in quick wiki search, because of how well-crafted the novel was drafted.

Half the time I forgot I was reading a non-fiction historical account, it was so riveting.

Everyone here is morbidly obese or stick skinny and spends all their free time playing games in a basement and/or perusing CE for most of the day.

That doesn't leave much time and patience for introspective hobbies such as reading.
