my wife has one. it's a nice piece of hardware but it looks and feels practically identical to my iphone 7, except for the back being a different material, but then again everyone throws their phone into a case anyway.

i think the 8 has sold like normal, and most people that want to buy a new iphone because it's the new thing to get are going to hold out for the X

Well it IS basically the iPhone 7S, and there's also the X on the horizon. Doing similar to the 6S is actually quite surprising.

if im not mistaken, this is completely obviously. They have to compete with the X coming out, of course they arent going to get a ton of sales. People are saving up / waiting. Why would people buy an 8?

I have no desire for an 8. It looks identical to my 7. And I wont be dropping $1k on the X. My current phone is in perfect condition still. So Im just going to hang on to it for as long as I can or until something interesting comes along.

The iPhone 8 line pretty much IS an "S" generation. It doesn't matter what Apple calls it since the real flagship is the X.

my theory is that apple wants to keep their products close in number with samsung.

so when some dope goes to his carrier's store to buy a new phone, and he sees an iphone 7S and a Galaxy S8 he doesnt buy the S8 because he assumes it's a newer phone/a generation ahead
