Was it just when they stopped using horse meat or was there something else that caused it?

If it was just the removal of horse meat, then I think they need to start using horse meat again.

They started adding chemicals to make it smell like it was grilled over an open flame well after it was actually cooked, and it changed the taste to be more artificial.

In short, Burger King stated back in early 2013 that trace amounts of horse DNA had been found at one of their suppliers plants, but they had immediately discontinued use of that supplier as a precaution, and no horse DNA had actually been found in the chains burgers. Nonetheless, the disreputable Before Its News site deliberately misrepresented a nearly three-year-old story about a horsemeat contamination scandal that had barely touched Burger King to make it appear that the chain was now acknowledging they are currently selling horsemeat to customers who order hamburgers.

Upon further research, it wasn't horsemeat in their burgers. Just a supplier that had horse DNA found in one of more their plants.

Compared to what, Mcdonalds?

Most likely it's a combination of you growing up, having a more refined pallet, as well as gourmet burgers becoming more common.

I have to say, I recall back in high school (so 13 - 14 years ago), that burger king had killer tasting burgers. These days, they seem less impressive.

If I go to a fast food place for a burger now, it's either McDonald's (for the cheap), or Whataburger or Wendy's if I want something tastier.

Their buns pretty much single-handedly make them unvisitable.

The veggies they put on whoppers have always been such a goopy artificial mess (even by fast food standards) that I usually steered clear of them.

Their texas whopper used to be pretty good. Now it's not. I remember it being pretty good as an adult as well.

Something changed. Also, WTF is with their menu these days? It's like they realized their burgers got worse and started selling tons of shit. There's no way I'm getting a hot dog from there.

Maybe the reason "satisfries" failed is because BK charged more for them? Just maybe?

Have they always advertised their burgers as 'sandwiches'? I just recently actually paid attention and noticed this and it drives me crazy now....

Price pressures, probably. Start charging $7 for a whopper, and your customers are going to wander off to Five Guys.

If BK wants to claw its way back then it'd better start making food to order like Wendy's and Jack do. Something's amiss when you're the only one at the drive thru and they're already holding your bag out as you round the corner after ordering.

I only started having it recently after not since childhood and I think it's still pretty good... I don't know why people trash it that much? The premium chicken sandwiches are pretty dope and the burgers taste fine to me. I think I prefer them to McDonalds.

I had a Whopper for the first time ever recently and it was alright for a fast food burger, haven't had anything else from them

Only used to go there for the chicken nuggets as a kid but those went to shit around like 2004 or 2005, every once in a while I get them again to see if they got better but they never do, the fries also went to shit at some point and they change them up slightly every year or so, it's better now than they were a few years ago but still pretty trash

They never served horsemeat but from what I understand horsemeat is actually really tasty.

Also horsemeat is found in a lot of catfood.

I went to 5 Guys once. I listed all the toppings I wanted, and they took my order. I received exactly no toppings, and even charged me extra for the bacon that wasn't there.
