when put into a museum, those statues should be in a section called "because treason isn't worth hurting feelings over." behind a curtain like the adult sections of 90's video stores.

that way they can have the segregation they always wanted.

Liberals don't give a shit about about the constitution

This liberal disagrees with your statement. Freedom of speech means all or nothing. I may not agree with what you say, but I'm willing to fight for your right to say it. I didn't serve in the military for the paycheck. I did it because I love this country and I was willing to give my life for it.

It is your right to make sweeping generalizations about people with different political ideas than your own, but that doesn't make them correct 100% of the time. Would you like it if I made generalizations about you? Probably not, but that's not the reason that I don't. I don't because I don't know you. Basing your opinions on the fringes of the two political groups causes division, anger, and gridlock, instead of solving real, everyday problems.

P.S. The Confederate flag should not be banned. I don't agree with what it is being interpreted as, but it is protected by freedom of speech.

The paycheck was next to nothing. I was unable to afford college, and I saw the military as a way to earn college credits toward my career choice. At the time that I was in the military (1999-2002) my base salary was around $1200 monthly. I made much more in my job before that (roofing), but going to college and roofing could not be done at the same time. I saw the military as a way to earn college credit, while living in rent-free barracks, saving every penny, and even making extra money shining boots, pressing uniforms, loan sharking, etc, so that I would have a fund available to live on, and afford to be able to put in the time required by classes. This plan was derailed when I shattered my leg training for Airborne School.

If your point was that I had selfish reasons for joining the military, then you have to apply that to everyone that collects the G.I. Bill or takes a signing bonus. I didn't get either. I probably could have found another way to go to college, but I chose the military for the reasons in my original post. I loved my country, and I still do. Sometimes there are more important things than money.

@RickyTheBAWSE. I have never attempted to use my VA benefits, if I even have any (I honestly don't know), I pay for my own insurance.

Course not, it's a historical landmark and part of our nation's creation history, whether we like it or not. And no it cant be compared to the Nazi flag, before some brainwashed moron pulls the analogy.

Pondering past historical events through the prism of current moral values is the most dreadful idiocy political correctness ever came up with.

But I do know the square flag was the Army of Northern Virginia's battle flag.
