Of course back then, I just went here for the FAQs and cheat codes. But right when I turned 13 in late 2002, I got a message board account here. I don't use it anymore because the name is childish and dumb. And my current account has far outgrown my original account in terms of karma. But now I'm 28 years old and am still coming back to this place in 2017.... I post less frequently though, preferring to lurk.

Also this site has more competition with reddit in terms of time and interest. But its just really surreal what a constant this site has been in my life during decades of change. I mean you go through a lot of life transitions from 10-28 lol. Wonder if Ill still be here when Im 40 or 50 lol.

Same my first account was in late 1999. I've noticed a serious decline in the mental state of the average poster. There used to be stronger personalities all over. People also used to write up these amazing faqs on their games, it seems like that's not as common anymore. But go look at faqs for say star ocean 2, vagrant story, final fantasy tactics. There are labors of serious love in there, hours of dedication from "average" posters. Sometimes I feel like the quality of gaming has gone Down. If you look at original playstation , it's like one great game after another, over and over. Nowadays , what the fuck , these games play themselves. I can't stand final fantasy anymore.

There was a kid named DarkCobra who used to preach atheism back when that was actually controversial on ce. I wanna say like 2002 or some shit. That was like the last gasp of societal decency in a way. Public outcry over icp, eminem, and Marilyn Manson. Now most people are worn down and dont give a shit. Anyway, cobra was this weird, angry visionary and he convinced several people to join his fake religion. Just a creative, strange person. Religion used to be argued with the same passion as race is now. After diversity is crammed up your ass, they'll find the next outrage. The next fashionable way to talk shit about this country.

Yeah I agree with you both on content and user mentality here. There are still cool enough people on here I can conversate with. But its one of the reasons why I dont post here too much. Way too often on GFaqs you get unneccesarily hostile replies, trolls, and other immature foolish behavior. People try to start up arguments over the tiniest of things. Respectful, intelligent discourse is too much of a rarity.

I feel like its gotten worse over time. I can't tell if its legitimately gotten worse in reality or maybe my perception of it has been altered and I am more aware of it due to maturing. One of the reasons why in my adult years, I have one foot in Gfaqs and one foot in Reddit. Which honestly reddit has got its crappy users too, I'm afraid the internet in general suffers that issue. But it's "average" user seems a tad bit better then Gfaqs, depends on which reddit you go to as well.
