The Republicans running the show back then all thought they could spread democracy throughout the Middle East, replacing regimes that were unfriendly to the US and its interests with those that were. This extended far beyond just Iraq, but Iraq was supposed to be the beginning. And as for why the Middle East matters and not North Korea, obviously that's for the oil.

The fucked it up so badly the plan fell flat on its face. Oh and if I didn't make it clear, there was a plan to go into Iraq long before talk of WMDs was in the picture.

The real answer is they don't have oil. 9/11 was a whole plan by Saudi Arabia to destabilize the middle east. It's worked to a tee. The refugee crisis is a result of all of that.

China is fed up with North Korea and has been for some time. There were a lot of articles suggesting that a lot of North Korea's recently missile stuff was more directed at China than the US. China didn't want that stuff happening and Kimmy had to show China that he won't be bossed around.

False, the Saudi government was not behind 9/11 and doesn't want a destabilized Middle East. They didn't want the invasion of Iraq either. However, there are plenty of Saudis outside the government (like the hijackers and Bin Laden himself) who do want that so they can have their caliphate.

Correct, they were making plans about Iraq before 9/11 even. Also, in 1998 under Bill Clinton, the US Congress passed a bill declaring that regime change in Iraq was the policy of the United States. Also we kept brutal sanctions and no fly zones over much of Iraq throughout the 90s, policies which many have claimed caused many civilian deaths and ended up making the population even more dependent on Saddam.
