Yeesh. I'm not sure the walmart I went to got more than 20 to 30. From hearing the cashiers talk as I waw on my way out, it sounded like they were running low after just the ~15 guys in line with me

I don't really care about the device, it was an event with a bunch of friends so I decided to go to hang out

That being said,


Best Buy had like 70-80, gave tickets around 730 but wasn't open until 10. Target opened at 8 and had around 30, so we just went over there after getting tickets and managed to get an extra one since there were only 20 or so in line.

Here's my experience for the ppl still hunting one: I went to Target 15 mins before it opened and got a ticket. I called my brother and said they might have enough for more ppl, so he drove by (he probably got there right when the store opened) and snagged one too. I bought mine and drove straight to work.

Our Target had at least 50. Another one nearby had 70. Sounds like there's some decent supply out there.

I went to walmart at like 1040 and there was nobody there

so I posted up with a chair I brought in
one problem I had was there was a really old guy in charge of the stock at the electronic section and he had no idea what SNES was, let alone...where he was at all >_>.
It took them 40 minutes of looking to find them. All of the while he was insisting they didn't have them.

at around 1120 a dude showed up and we just talked until more people showed up

at around 1150 there were at least 10 people

at 1159, they made an announcement over the PA that they were gonna be selling them

at least 20 more people showed up

I got mine and they sold out at the last person

this morning, there was a line that apparently started at 5am at the store. We sold out within 30 minutes of opening

I knew this was gonna happen so thats why I went to walmart

My local gamestop ran out at opening. The local Wal-Mart ran out at 10 this morning which was surprising I had the opportunity to get one if I had more money

the custom kernal is still being work on by our russian friends

all we have right now is the SNES will hook up to the old hakchi2 program, but you can't do anything with it and if you try to put the NES custom kernal on it, it will brick it

it's all in russian so unless you're really interested in watching it here was a log someone on reddit was keeping

To recap so far, /u/clusterm:
Opened a brand new SNES Classic
Disassembled it
Soldered the UART connections to a set of wires to the outside of the case
Connected it to serial
Plugged it into the PC and connected to console via PuTTY
Dumped the original kernel
Loaded a custom kernel
Logged into the console via the PuTTY connection
Browsed some of the system files, viewing some of the screenshots
Compared the header information from the ROM on the SNESCE for Super Mario World to a ROM file on his computer
Noted that there are 48B at the beginning of the header on the ROM on the SNESCE that are there in addition to the standard ROM header on the file on his computer (this seems to be a header from the Virtual Console version of the ROM)
Copied the contents of the folder for SMW and began making changes to try to get The Lion King working
Copied the Lion King ROM to the SNESCE
Got a C7 error when launching it the first time
Copied the 48B header from the SMW ROM on the SNESCE to the Lion King ROM
Still got C7 when launching after patch
Installed both Retroarch and SNES9X HMODs over to the SNESCE
Was able to launch the game via Retroarch/SNES9X, but C8 error on exit

Continuing:
The C8 had to do with commands that followed after execution of retroarch that needed to be accommodated for
The screenshot at exit of the emulator was fixed, but the save state did not load as it should have
He corrected the save state location saving and was able to launch the save state, with the emulator picking up where it left off

Continuing:
Noted that he'll need to update the interface to be able to custom set the buttons for reset to home
He committed an update to the git repository for the clovercon changes (you can see that here: https://github.com/ClusterM/hakchi2/commit/46901b2c198622f3ec5479255020720cacc2aeb2)

slowly but surely we're getting there

I don't know yet what roms will and won't work, but for now I downloaded a torrent of Cylum SNES Romset

it's all the North American released games plus a selection of the best Europe exclusives, Japanese exclusives, Fan translations, prototypes and rom hacks
