They're unregulated so you don't know if there's actually what they say in there. There are also some studies that show people who take multivitamins are no healthier than those that don't (but how can you control for all diet and lifestyle factors, so it's debatable)

I've also heard that you expel almost all of them through your urine, when taken in poll form.

True.
I've tried to change by tastes, but I always end up vomiting. I'd rather take a supplement, than dread every meal. Do you have anything useful to contribute?

Multivitamins certainly work, but the quality is variable because regulation is lax and your body doesn't utilize 100% of the pill (to be fair, your body doesn't utilize 100% of anything you eat).

Most of the B-vitamins are indeed immediately excreted by the kidneys, but that's supposed to happen when you take that much in a condensed form like that.

IMO, it's still wise to take a multi to make sure you won't have any vitamin-deficient problems. They're safe to take on a regular basis and are inexpensive.

I don't like leafy greens (though I like a good number of vegetables). I do lots of green shakes. 12 oz water, 5 oz spinach or kale (I rotate), 1 banana, 1 cup of frozen mixed fruit. not as good as eating an actual salad but I actually will have the green shake regularly.

The inexpensive ones have inferior nutrient sources in the forms of carbonates and oxides, which are less bioavailable. Personally, I buy an expensive brand that I take very infrequently when I'm in a rush and don't have fruits or veggies at hand. Don't rely on vitamins.

Think I will get some Soylent.
I may also start trying vegan equivalents of things I like. I doubt they will be as tasty, but I am sure I can find stuff I like. I often feel "off", I wonder how much my shit diet contributes to that.

I hate almost all veggies. I can tolerate them in certain dishes, like stir fry or pizza. Even then, they can't be too big. You can call me a baby, but that's how it is. I figure this is better than nothing.

You should just accept that sometimes you need to eat things you don't want to.

Cottage cheese used to be a popular bodybuilder food before bedtime. The first time I opened a container I literally gagged. After a while it became tolerable.

I don't think you're a baby. I was a very picky eater, probably a little better now. You could do fruit and vege smoothies.

If you're puking that's not being "a picky eater" that's a major food allergy. Go to the doctor.

It's not a a food allergy. It's because I have to force it down.

Plenty of times when I was trying to gain weight.

Normally I wouldn't act like such a hardass when you're this uncomfortable about something but eating vegetables is something every human being should do.

It's not so much that they dont work, it's that they havent been proven to have a benefit to the general population.
There have been several studies but they all have caveats. Here is a commonly cited review article discussing the evidence.
http://annals.org/aim/article/1767855/vitamin-mineral-supplements-primary-prevention-cardiovascular-disease-cancer-updated-systematic

Essentially, in vary large trials looking at cancer and heart disease, there was no benefit of vitamins vs placebo. There was a study that looked at ~6000 doctors taking multivitamins and tested their cognitive function which found no benefit, but those were doctors who were high functioning and probably ate well to begin with.

But in terms of just making you feel better and be more energized? That really hasnt been studied in a way that can be applied to the average person. Also, it's pretty much agreed that they dont have a benefit in people eating a healthy diet, but, again, we dont know if theres a benefit for, say, a neckbeard who lives off of fast food. A lot of people do take them to have a safety net and a lot of doctors do recommend them for patients, even though it's a question that hasnt really been answered definitively.

That said, the one vitamin that has been found to be beneficial is vitamin D. Most Americans dont get enough due to being inside most of the day and the recent consensus is that FDA recommendations are too low. So that likely is worth taking.

Afaik, its because the body takes just the amount it needs at that particular moment. Rest just washes off fast. When you get them from food they get absorbed a lot slower so you end up getting more of that.

Also, it terms of Soylent, it's meal replacement. Ensure plus is better IMO since it uses whey protein rather than soy protein like Soylent. And it's cheaper. I chug them pretty often when I dont have time for lunch or breakfast when I'm on rotation.
