You know what's funny? I still find myself doing voice parodies of the PT when I'm messing around at home. Mostly cringey Anakin-Padme "dialogue".

They're both trash. The prequels were at least not total rehashes of prior films, so there's that.

It's JJ Abrams. They'll be rehashes, guaranteed.

Isn't he not involved with episode 8?

Edit: Nevermind, he's the producer.

And Lucas was involved with the other Star Wars movies and they turned it well. Mostly.

If you say so.
I'd try to argue the point that Jake Lloyd was somehow a better actor than Hayden.

I would say ROTS is the best of prequels. Although that's not really a high bar.

I can understand not loving TFA, but for the life of me I don't see how anyone could hate it. Sure, dislike the mary sue qualities of Rey and mention all the similarities to A New Hope, but it was fun, breathed new life into the franchise, the visuals (both practical and CGI) were fantastic, the battles were exhilarating, the character interactions were well-written and well-delivered, and the music was fantastic as per the norm for the series. Compared to the stale nature of the prequels, I'm honestly convinced that people that claim to hate it are either just trolling or are just contrarian and aren't happy with anything.

i'm not sure that ever has any real meaning.

spielberg was executive producer on all transformers movies and we all attribute their different levels of crappiness to michael bay(goddamn that last movie takes the cake by a mile).

hell, nolan was executive producer on BvS yet i really doubt anyone is pointing fingers at him for how it turned out.

Abrams directly worked with the people that wrote the second movie to sync it up with the other two. It can be assumed that he gave them a general framework to fit everything into. Also, we're only talking about the originality of the story, not the overall quality of the film. A film can be unoriginal but still be entertaining.

Oddly enough, Michael Bay get all the shit for the TMNT movies too, despite him serving only as the executive producer for both.
