Do you? I mean time seems to move fast on everyone. Don't millions of people die everyday? Do you find it hard not to think about it?

Not really. It's going to happen and there's no getting out of it. Best I can do is live a good life, take care of myself, and try not to have a stupid, embarrassing death.

When your brain shuts down you won't know what nothingness is so, you don't have to be scared of shit.

On occasion, yeah. Once you have your first existential crisis, it's hard to not think about that sort of shit again from time to time unless you've managed to find something else to preoccupy yourself so you don't think about that stuff as much, if not ever again.

There's almost a certain irony to it, feeling such a strong emotion about the lack of feeling. I understand why people are frightened by the thought of nothingness but...it's kind of pointless.

I remember one time I had a slight mental breakdown while I was high as shit and I started thinking about it too much, to the point that I started having bizarrely suicidal thoughts out of a desire to know what it's like. No depression, no hopelessness - just curiosity.

Yeah. I'm pretty at peace with it all.

For me, the main thing that terrifies me is getting old. I see a lot of these people (very sick, very weak, hardly know where they are half the time). For someone like me who tries to maintain my health to the highest level and live a good quality of life, I think that's a fate worse than death. I can't imagine just slowly becoming a shell of your former self as your mind and body goes. The "prime" years of life seem like they're so short too, like maybe I don't have a lot of truly good years left before my health starts to slowly decline (I'm 31). I don't think it would hurt my feelings if I died young-ish.

Holy shit at all the fucking edgelords in this topic...

Nobody worries about dying on purpose. It's a natural, rational human fear of the unknown, in that it is the ultimate unknown. And it's uncontrollable. No one sits down and says "I'm in the mood to be afraid of this today." It's a form of anxiety, which has a habit of coming up at the most inopportune times.
Anyone saying they're not bothered by the prospect of never again having a thought for the rest of eternity is either so full of shit or so jaded. And saying that when you're dead you won't be able to worry about being dead is missing the point so hard, I don't even know where to begin.

Death is fucking terrifying, TC. Absolutely. In high school, I used to think about it a lot, but as life went on I've gotten busy enough with cool things that I don't have time to worry about it very often anymore. But once in a while when it does creep into my mind, it fucks me up.

It'd be like being in a life threatening situation, and being scared as shit, and someone says "well if you do die it won't matter to you cause you'll be dead". It's like no shit, but I don't want to die. That's the point.

This.

It's a moot point what happens after you die because fear is an active feeling that happens in the present. It doesn't matter if you won't be alive to worry about it, you're alive now and have plenty of time to process that incredibly upsetting concept in your current mind.
It's like getting a needle. You know you won't feel anything after the shot, but that doesn't mean people don't look forward to getting a shot. It's the anticipation of it that gets you, not the millisecond of pricking pain you experience.

Look at all this fucking projection. I've never seen someone be so aggressively scared.
I had my moments of terror about death. Y'know what I did? I worked them out. I talked to people, I reflected on my own views, I looked at other people's viewpoints. I challenged that fear rather than cower from it.
Of course I don't want to die. If a car is coming toward me, I'm going to jump out of the way, not stand there thinking "lol oh well I won't be worried about it once I'm dead." Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably too stupid to dress themselves in the morning.
The point is that I don't dwell on it. It only exists outside my own experience. Don't get pissy with us because you're fucked up about it.

Yes, I read it - you distract yourself rather than take the time to work through those fears.
It's a strange reflection on you that you think personal reflection is a "tough guy" quality.

We’re going back and forth
And back and forth and back and forth and back
So in the end, whatever, we die, we dissolve
Equations unbalanced, riddles unsolved
And we were never connected or involved
Except for the intersections and crazy mathematics
With no time and no space and no schedule and no place
And they pass right through us without a trace
