Frodo wakes up in Rivendell, and the whole fellowship has assembled there while he recovered. But I don't think it was explained- who are all of these guys and how did they know to come? Gimli doesn't know legolas or boromir etc.
Are they all elrond's friends? They're not kings or anything right? Legolas is just some dude --- But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them - bring them here and kill them in front of me ~Jesus Christ ... Copied to Clipboard!

Start the movie over. Watch the scene where they throw the ring in the fireplace and Gandalf for the first time realizes what it is.
Frodo: "Here, take it." Gandalf: "Oh no. It would corrupt me. And with my powers dare me to do horrible things." Frodo: "What should we do?" Gandalf: "Ride to the Prancing Pony. I will arrange for a meeting there with a Ranger. Tell nobody about the ring. Stay on the roads." Frodo: "What about you?" Gandalf: "I must ride to summon the great kingdoms of Man to deliberate on this advent of matters. We will meet at Rivendell. The Ranger will escort you there. You will be safe with him." *awakes in Rivendell and Gandalf has already summoned the kingdoms, and they have sent their representatives* --- No time to freeze undercovers ease up in Grand Prix, and seize packages and pocket the currency - GZA ... Etherealfare posted...Gandalf gathered them there. Elrond really has nothing to do with it, other than he is already in Rivendell. That's a close enough way to look at it. They're not ALL princes, per se, but for example Boromir is indeed the son of the King. But the king only sends Boromir because the king wants him to take the ring and steal it back to their kingdom (revealed in 3rd movie). Otherwise it's implied the king would've just sent some random scrub as he didn't GAF about their bullshit quest to save shit - he just wanted the ring's power. --- No time to freeze undercovers ease up in Grand Prix, and seize packages and pocket the currency - GZA ... Sean Bean's character is the son of the King. Legolas is also the son of a King. But Legolas actually isn't there for the fellowship at all. He's there because prior to the events in the Fellowship, Gollum escapes from their kingdom's guard so Legolas is actually only there to discuss that. Boromir is the son of the steward of gondor. I mean he's the King. For the fact of teaching the OP stuff, let's not confuse him with the lore behind it and the missing king, etc. Yes, Boromir is the son of a king. Yeah I did think to phrase it like that, but the council of elrond is also where it's revealed that Strider is the true king of Gondor. So I thought I could get away with being a pedant. --- En Taro Tassadar FFBE FC: 970.089.321 | 834 Ashe ... Copied to Clipboard!

Its kinda like a UN meeting. Representatives from all kingdoms deciding together what needs to be done about the Ring. Everybody there is a prince/king/person of high status except for the Hobbits.

Gandalf gathered them there. Elrond really has nothing to do with it, other than he is already in Rivendell. No, in the book it's clearly explained as happenstance, or fate, that they were all there.
