Don't get me wrong, it's a good show, but the idea that only "intelligent" people can appreciate it is just hilarious. People seem to think they understand physics just by watching a show that basically ignores all the laws of actual physics.

Anyway this is the picture that made me think of this: G7klidh

Friends was alright but I don't get why it was so popular.

It has some solid writing/jokes at times but at the end of the day it's just another stupid cartoon. People like that give the fanbase a bad name.

Friends was ok. It's Always Sunny is great. I don't give a shit about Rock and Morty or BBT

I find most people that act like this are the type who exclusively watch cartoons so they need to convince themselves it's something more special than it is.

I don't think most normal watchers think it's anything more than a funny cartoon.

Honestly that chart would be 100% accurate if Rick and Morty switched with BBT

I wouldn't say they think they understand traditional science as the show doesn't really show anything factual related to that. I would phrase it as it's their first exposure to a more nihilistic philosophy than regular society is comfortable with and as a result they think they've stumbled upon something that somehow the rest of the world never discovered. Meanwhile you've had stuff like this since civilization began but it usually gets ignored by the less intellectually curious ("Vonnegut? Sounds like a boring old guy") so showing it in cartoon form is granting it more exposure.
