The whole feel of 3 was different than 1 and 2 and not because it dealt with Cali.
Before Peña was toiling with whores and doing what one would consider a gritty cop. Now he's all business attire and his team. Which I get comes from his promotion, but now we've lost Murphy. Forgot what their reason for him being gone is. And now they hint at S4 dealing with Mexico. Only guy they've shown there is El Señor de los Cielos so a new cast altogether will be formed. I think they said audience response to pena was so high they kept him on. I believe he is basically playing another captain or whatever in the DEA.
