No. It would bounce you all around and injure you badly.

In fact, I remember some people were trying to run in a giant enclosed ball once on a snowy mountain down a short hill.

The ball ended up turning and going off a much larger hill and bystanders couldn't stop it. If I recall, at least one person died

That would be different, but I find it hard to conceptualize padding that would protect you from being flung around several stories high and not be seriously hurt.
