DNA test and then probably a "yeah no the kids get my last name as we are married". Why not just flip a coin who's last name the child gets? Why should we hold on to tradition where the child always gets the father's last name? Surely this tradition didn't come about because women wanted it that way --- I don't know my gimmick ... I wouldn't care. My dad walked out on my mom when I was an infant. I don't give a shit about his legacy, and don't need my ego massaged by having my kids carry that name.

@Kazi1212
It means the father is not only in the child's life but also married to the mother, the father's last name means the kid was not born out of wedlock. I would not put up with a woman who would try ruining the kid's reputation nor the bs idea that she keeps her last name and I keep mine. Sorry but we will share a last name as will the child to show we are married and he is a child with both parents present. --- "Always two there are, a master and an apprentice" ... @Kazi1212 Why not take her last name? Do you really think that would ruin a child's reputation? Where do you live? --- http://i.imgur.com/8pzUM.gif http://i.imgur.com/Oh1iujg.gif The only bad part about flying is having to come back down to the f***in' world ~Rat ... Copied to Clipboard!

Simple, I wouldn't allow it. Just as she was entirely free to refuse for the kids to take my name only and have a hyphenated name for the kids, I'd expect her to hold to that as well and be okay with me not wanting our kids to only have her name. In this circumstance, we'd have kids with hyphenated surnames, simple as that.
Thankfully, she willingly took my last name and our four kids have my last name only, so problem avoided. I made it readily available that I'd be fine with her going hyphenated or keeping her last name and our kids being hyphenated from the very beginning, though. --- The poster formerly known as Kakarot181: July 2, 2002 - March 14, 2012.
