Current Events > Another reminder that we never got a Wild ARMs 6.

You would think we'd get one on the PS3, but in the 6-7 years of its lifespan, that didn't happen. And now that we're on the PS4, there seems to be no sign or hope of another Wild ARMs game.

My only conclusion is that Wild ARMs XF was so bad, it killed the series completely.

I remember there were talks of a Wild Arms 2 remake way back in the same vain as Alter Code F, which I was fucking excited about because it's my second favorite game of all time.

Never came true though :(

The dialogue and some of the characters were boringly cliche.

Also, Alter Code F is how Square should be doing their FFVII Remake. Keep the combat mostly the same, but with some improvements from the most recent games. (Not FFXV, obviously...)

And I loved some of the unique stuff WA came up with. Like in WA2, how it had a "search" system to look for locations on the overworld map. Or how when a random encounter occurs, you have the option to cancel it outright. That is an amazing feature. And how WA3 let you cancel character actions during turns. Like, you set what all 4 characters are going to do before everything happens, and if an enemy does something that changes up the situation, but a character has yet to make their action, you can cancel theirs before they do their thing, and have them do something else, instead. It's also kinda neat how every character had an ARM, and there was a whole ammo reload system whenever you defended. It gave the old "Defend" command a little more use. Oh, and sometime else I really loved from WA3 was that the creators decided to have the characters run around and stuff during combat. It was turn-based, but it wasn't where both the party and enemies were standing on opposite sides or anything, and returned to their designated position after attacking. They kept running around, to give it a more "natural" feel. I wish more turn-based games had done that.

Yeah, I remember hearing someone say it was a great combination of typical RPG fantasy elements and wild west. It's a good way to describe it.

Maybe it's best some of these series eventually die off. I mean, look at what happened to things like Final Fantasy.

I think both series were pretty "meh" by the end. The last suikoden was almost as bad as wild arms IV and that's no bueno.

We never got to go to Harmonia or the Badlands.
We never got answers regarding Viki or Jeane.
Did Persmerga and Yuber ever settle the score? We'll never know.
What happened to the Sindar? We only had bits and pieces.
Did FREYJADOR AND LYON EVER GET MARRIED??!!!

I've been chipping away at XF for two years. 4 wasn't as good as the rest, but XF might actually be a bad game. Never got around to WA5 or AC: F. I heard there was a mobile game now -_-

We'll never see the effects of the other True Runes or dispel the calamity that Luc and Leknaat kept foreshadowing. We'll never have all the True Rune immortals and Kyril reunite for one last adventure.

Also a reminder that after burying Breath of Fire, Capcom dug it up to piss on its grave and Golden Sun is forever going to be in cliffhanger mode.

Oh and kiss getting a new Final Fantasy Tactics goodbye. Legaia and Grandia are dead and we won't see a main series FF for at least another 5 years.

I Am Setsuna underperformed, if Lost Sphear does too we'll just have to look forward to Dragon Quest for all eternity for our traditional turn-based, world-map exploring adventuring needs.

I actually liked XF except for
1. can't use special attacks after moving.
2. Many battles are "use this exact setup or fail".

Loved 2 & 3. Do not like that battle system of 4 & 5 though.
Can't get into 1 & AC:F. The original feels as dated as the NES Dragon Quest games and AC:F feels slow and clunky, it's trying to hard to be a carbon copy of 3.

Overall I like the series, the anime was neat too but I don't like 4 & 5, I imagine 6 would have been the same. I feel like it died a hero, instead of living long enough to become a villain.

I stubbornly do stuff like taking advantage of the VIT system and letting the turn count get high and the DoT kill the enemies to get around that.

Screw the game for trying to make me grind out alt-classes.

Legaia and Grandia are dead

Legaia 2 was pretty lame though (still played it to death). It would have been difficult to salvage after that. But 1 was a goddamn masterpiece that I love to pieces.

Grandia series is also great. Currently replaying II on Steam. I missed it.

also reminder we never had the last suikoden game on PSP localized. stupid NA Sony policy, stopping all the PSP games localization because they want to boost Vita sales.
