I have zero doubt in my mind that the quality of education offered by an Ivy League is about on par with any number of other excellent public and private universities across the United States. But what Ivy League schools have in spades compared to just about any other university other than maybe a handful of schools like Stanford, MIT, and Chicago is in the realm of connections. Having a Harvard or a Yale degree opens so many doors right off the bat and, if you use the university's resources, gets your foot in the door in essentially every field.
