Five nurses in Denver were suspended for three weeks by their hospital after they reportedly opened a body bag to view a deceased patient’s genitals and admire their size, according to local media reports.
Initially, just two nurses were suspended, a spokesperson for the hospital told ABC 7. However, further investigation led to three more suspensions. All the suspensions were three weeks long, the hospital said, and four of the nurses have since returned to work. One of the nurses no longer works at the hospital but was not fired because of the incident, a hospital official said.
“Multiple staff members viewed the victim while he was incapacitated, including after he was deceased,” a Denver Police report read, according to ABC 7.

That must have been one impressive package.

You realize that even though he vocal minority is out against men-in reality we have courts, officers, teachers, doctors, more people than not, boss's everywhere, and even laws that are the opposite and are still sexist towards women? So the guys would either not get a news story out of it, or they'd have the same punishment.

To play devil's advocate, I work in a hospital. Not on the medical side of things, but the administrative side of things. Morbid humor and detachment is completely natural for doctors and nurses, and quite frankly looking at a dead dude's dick doesn't seem to be an issue for me provided that they didn't do anything to the body. Cracking jokes or making comments or even admiring patients and cadavers is all very common. Just a week or two ago I overheard a conversation between doctors by their lockers talking about how they needed to work out after seeing the six pack on some dude that died in a car accident.

Sorry if that's a shock to you, but you just get desensitized to those things when you deal with it daily. Now, if we were talking about a situation where the nurses were taking pictures or hitting the corpse or engaging in necrophilia, that's an entirely different matter. Just looking or joking, though? Bad news, I guarantee that your doctors or nurses have had snide or joking comments about you or a loved one behind your back. Big whoop. Your saddest day featuring a horrible diagnosis or the death of a loved one was just a Tuesday to them.

Exactly. And that's the thing, not everybody can handle that kind of stress, and those that do often need coping mechanisms. I've seen staff cope with drugs and alcohol and I've seen staff cope with cracking jokes and generally getting desensitized. The latter is far healthier and safer.
