Yeah yeah, this is like comparing asparagus to a bicycle blah blah. But the fact is you enjoy one of those things more than the other, so let us hear your opinion!

lord of the rings. is the zelda world even that fleshed out? I don't know. I've never even finished a zelda game in my life. only one I ever played much of was the original on nes.

Well the world in Zelda isn't really fleshed out in a sense that there are clear and precise rules about what exactly Hyrule is. But that's cool because it allows each game to be unique. I made this comparison because LOTR is the most famous fantasy world for readers, and LOZ is the most famous fantasy world for video gamers.

I guess the biggest flaw of my topic is that I chose the most fleshed out fantas book world to contend with a video game world that has many superiors as far as having a fleshed out world. Among them are Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, and Baldur's gate. If you want feel free to compare LOTR to a video game world you feel is more fleshed out.

I feel like I should get through the Lord of the Rings before answering this. Currently reading it for the first time. I guess I have some basic knowledge of Middle-earth outside of LOTR. Still, not sure what I'd pick.

I only read The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy, so I'm not versed enough in the real lore of Rings to give a fair opinion.

I think it might have made more sense to compare Zelda to another video game world. Tolkien's universe was specifically built to be rich with detail and lore. Zelda was intended to be a video game first and foremost, and only later did it start to build itself up.

Zelda's world becomes less interesting with the fact it never even tries to be consistent.
