I'm replaying it from the start for the first time and man it never ceases to amaze me how fun this game is. This is one of the few games I'd condiser a masterpiece

Ten Minutes into Witcher 3: I must find Ciri!

50 Hours Later: I must recruit a team of actors who will put on a play that will contain coded messages so I can get the attention of a dwarf who might know the whereabouts of my friend who was captured by bandits and needs to be saved because he might know the location of Ciri! (Update: he does not.)

I liked it a lot but thought there could be more creativity. It falls back hard on old tropes.

Lone jedi-esque character, one of the last of a dying breed. Evil men in black armor are an ever present danger on the horizon. A beautiful girl is the key to it all. Sprinkle it with some elves that live in trees and set it in medieval Britain. Wow, couldn't be LESS creative

Nope

between witcher 3 and dark souls 3, my action rpg fix has been met for the forseeable future.
it's really hard to care about other games of the genre when they both did it so well (in different ways).

will pick up a switch this xmas though, will try out zelda botw though

i would never say witcher 3 is a bad game by any means, but i thought the combat was just ok and i thought the story moved ridiculously slow. i put a good 60 hours or so into the game and the story did not change a single bit in any important way from when i first started.

You have two different swords that play the same, and you have one useful spell.

But even worse is the floatiness and the controls in general. He moves like a tank.

Played about 30 hours, mostly on the hardest mode, wasnt fun.

It's an objectively good game but it's just not fun to play.

top 3 game for me all time and GOAT rpg

the game's biggest draw but also turn off is that it's soooo exhaustive.
even just racing through the main plot can easily take a few dozen hours.

one complete(ish) run is more than enough and i have no idea how people even start over on NG+ just to go through it all again.

Combat is fine. It's not Bloodborne, but it's fine.

Fantastic scenery, especially Toussaint, music, and characters. Missions too.
