Well, God is pretty chill with killing babies if you read the old testament. And it is clearly stated in Leviticus 27:6 that a baby doesn't have any worth till after 1 month anyway. After one month a male baby is worth exactly 5 shekels, and a female baby 3 shekels. They're worth no shekels before that.

Does it actually say they aren't worth currency until 1 month or that they don't have worth until 1 month.

It says "From a month on", which is pretty specific if you ask me. :v God could have just as easily said newborn instead, but he picked 1 month. So in God's eyes, something changes that suddenly makes the baby worth shekels at the 1 month mark where it wasn't before.

So if you're not worth shekels, what worth do you have?

If it be from five years even to twenty years old then your valuation for the male shall be twenty shekels and for the female ten shekels. But if they are from a month even up to five years old, then your valuation shall be five shekels of silver for the male, and for the female your valuation shall be three shekels of silver.
