Back in high school was my worst. I was 5th wheeling at my own house. I was hanging out with two of my best guy friends, one of my best girl friends, and a friend of said female friend. We'll just call them Guy A/B and Girl A/B.

We went out to a hookah bar and lounged for a while, then returned to my house and hung out in the basement to watch movies or whatever.

Now, Guy A eventually hooked up with Girl A, but at the point of this night, I didn't know there was any romantic entanglement. They kept it on the DL. But I did notice some fishiness, where it seemed like Girl A was tickling Guy A because he kept flinching (though shortly after it started, I realized she was grabbing his donger under the blanket).

Meanwhile, on the other two chairs, Guy B and Girl B were being all cutesy together. This one I was a bit more surprised by. These two had never met before, but Girl B was just flopping all over him, like sitting on his lap, etc.

Eventually they started making out and I later learned she gave him a BJ in the back room of the basement.

So at one point, I just switched the movie over to Battlefield 3 because Guy A and Girl A were still there being all "secretly" sexual, so I was like fuck this, I'm playing video games.

Worse off - I had my own female companion with whom all this surrounding romance would have encouraged her to hook up with me too, but she was stuck at a party that was hosted by her best friend, so I was screwed because she obviously wasn't going to ditch her BFF.

It was brutal.

I used to live with an engaged couple and it was cool most of the time, I never felt like a third wheel with them and we got along great. Then they opened their relationship up and started having regular threesomes with this other girl (ex-wife of another friend). I was always welcome to hang out just like I always had, but suddenly it was like I wasnt even there. These three people were so caught up in each other that I felt invisible. No one talked to me, no one acknowledged me.

God damn I just noticed that I'm even getting 5th wheeled (sorta) for workplace foosball recently.

The way the desks are set up, I'm sorta towards the end of the aisle, which has 8 desks in total. The two in front always are locks because the boss (the one who typically initiates games and throws hissy fits if he doesn't get to play). So typically what happens is, boss walks up and confirms the first two, then just walks down the aisle and grabs the next guy (person across from him doesn't play). He's always game. So that just leaves me as the next man up.

Annoying this is, there's a sixth guy who sits in a different aisle who is also always game, but he always works from home. Otherwise I'd just grab him and say hey we got winners. But nope. 5th wheel for life.

I think the most awkward was when I was with two friends and they had a fight, I'd that counts. Throughout the day I'd be alone with one of them for some time and they'd privately complain about the other and I really had no idea what I was supposed to say.
