They've "destroyed" the environment as much as say
Europe decimated the African continent (there's a word commonly used in place of decimated here)

I wasn't using the word inappropriately. Critics of China in the past have used the word to describe its actions toward the environment. Critics of European colonialism used it. The Japanese pillaging of the town of Nanjing contains this very word in the name of the event.

You can't act like using that "r" word in and of itself is entirely, wholly offensive

China has done FAR MORE to the environment than most developed countries. Their disregard for humanity and the environment has done irreparable damage to our atmosphere.

yes lets forget the last two decades of China dumping shit into rivers and polluting, not only themselves, but letting the pollution reach other nations around them

also consider that most of China's population is concentrated in a few spots around the eastern side of China - the rest of it is mostly unpopulated, undeveloped, and inhospitable. So of course their "total carbon emission" is going to look lower or whatever metric you guys are using

America has people concentrated in nearly every state, we use cars more than everyone, need more energy to keep everything powered across vast distances, etc

China has 1.9 or so billion people concentrated in like 5 places
and again, there's no city in America where the air is so bad you can't BREATHE it like in Beijing

Not-even half of China is causing more than half of the US
but you have to factor in that these numbers are likely outdated

but since 2013, at least, carbon emissions from China have been rising
and the US's were steadily declining

IDK about now (haven't looked at the numbers) but I'm sure China's CO2 emissions have dropped significantly since their efforts

but again, that doesn't excuse them for what they did to the environment in the first place, nor will this guarantee that they'll be able to reverse the massive damage they did
