If a border's to be enforced, the border with Guatemala would be easier to police (shorter), and federal legalization of marijuana would go a long ways toward quelling the cartels. Developed nations with common, shared ideals of liberalism, democracy, and equality must integrate in order to provide a counterweight to Russian/Chinese authoritarianism. Soviet_Poland 09/03/17 8:02:23 PM #43:	Just in favor of DREAM act, as those people often were brought by parents when they were at a dependent age. We've already invested in their public school education and giving them a direct path to residency or citizenship upon completion of higher education or military service seems more feasible to get productive, tax-paying citizens rather than have potential talent fall through the cracks and continue to expend safety net resources. Given their situation, deporting them back to their parents' home country seems fucked up. Often these DREAMers spent more time in the U.S. than their home country and identify more with American culture and values. It's obviously a grey area, as it does "cut" in front of the process of people legitimately waiting for residency and might encourage parents to do so in order to at least give their children more opportunity. Take some state's strategies--like Arizona, and you'll just create more strife and violence with the Gestapo-like strategy.
