Eddard would be a prime democratic candidate.

The North's entire culture boils down to "our way is the old way." They are Westeros' conservatives.

I didn't think the Starks were rich, nor Stannis.

In the terms of medieval power and socio-economic status, they both are quite rich given the time periods. Both own entire keeps full of staff and have armies they pay under their command. In medieval England, that means you were part of the 'rich'.

Yeah, Ned and Stannis are only poor in comparison to the other great houses. It's like saying Oprah is poor because she doesn't have as much money as Bill Gates.

On the other hand, he's not the majority religion and seems to accept anyone of any faith, he doesn't believe in centralized power (at least, he seemed extremely supportive of the idea of having a council of people to question what the King does). Can't really speak for his economic views, because that never really came up.

You can have traditions without being conservative.

Ned would continue to give out 'BAD DEALS', cause he knows as much about politics as a pigeon knows about jerking off. Stannis would be a more menacing version of Trump, enforcing a theocratic ruling body as well. Also he doesn't want to rule, he wants it because 'it's his right'. Which is never the path to democracy.

Of the three, Tywin is the only right answer.

Yeah, I vote Tywin. He was a badass who understood all the politics of Westeros, but was still willing to lead his troops on the battlefield. He exemplifies the no excuses, just get it done type of leader who could improve his kingdom and protect his allies.

People voting Ned... Lol. He would have been a good general in the modern military, but no way would he have done well as the overall leader. He never wanted to rule, anyway. He was also too stupid, proud and naive to keep things from falling apart. Don't get me wrong, Ned was the kind of guy I'd want fighting by my side.

I think that murdering someone's entire family and pregnant wife because they didn't want to honor a betrothal is a tad bit of overkill.

Literally this. But it's revealed that the Lannisters were pretty much behind it so...

Hey now. I agree to an extent - Robb's youth was probably a big reason why he wasn't a perfect leader, but he didn't make any promise. Catelyn did, behind his back (IIRC).

The more I think about it, the more I think Mance would have been at least as good. I mean - the Free Folk are the closest Westeros has to a democracy, and he manages to stay popular. Quite an important aspect of being POTUS.

She heard the terms but Robb agreed to them. Robb most definitely made a promise.

No, that scene is identical between the books and the show

Well in that case, what happened was rather "I already made the deal, suck it up", followed by Robb grudgingly agreeing to a deal that was already made.

No, it wasn't. Catelyn was just a messenger. It was up to Robb whether he accepted the termsor not.

How can anyone not support Dolorous Edd?

From a poor squire to Lord Commander. Great solider (survived Wildlings, giants, wights, mutineers, and White Walkers). Loyal friend to Jon Snow through thick and thin. Not power hungry in the slightest.

And the press conferences would be amazing.

Vote Dolorous Edd/Ghost in 2020.

Oh, Tollet. If we're going that route I'd prefer Jeor Mormont. He was a grizzled vet, a good man, and a great leader.

Alisser Thorne could be his press secretary.
