A town, a city, whatever you want to call it. Do you think you can have a good quality of life there, with quite a few things in the town or city centre to do, or is this kind of place rustic and backward?

I mean it's all relative. That's a lot of people, but when you compare it to cities with millions of people it's obviously small.

Depends on the context. 25,000 surrounded by counties of farmland in every direction is medium. 25,000 next to a larger town or among a metro area of many larger towns and cities is small. A bit small for me, especially now that I live in Chicagoland, but I'm originally from Central Illinois so it's not like it'd be a tiny Podunk to me.

If it's a part of a metro area, then its size doesn't really matter. Quality of life will not suffer.
