but it's his foundation, who ever donated fully knew they were donating to a billionaire it's not like cuck Sanders who pretty much needed everything he could get.

Yes. On several occasions he would accidentally post something like "I'm not hoth" on his hoth account and shortly delete it.

Money donated to his foundation isn't his personal money. You're not even good at mental gymnastics.
If a person freely of their own will donates money to someone then it is theirs. When I donate clothes to Goodwill they become the property of Goodwill to do as they see fit. They are no longer my clothes and I have no say it what's done to them as they are now Goodwill's property. The same applies to anyone that donates money to Trump at any point in his life. It is now his money. Now whose doing the mental gymnastics?

There are tax laws and other requirements for not-for-profit foundations.

Goodwill is an NPO, so it has even more restrictions than the foundation. They couldn't use your donated money to make a campaign contribution, for example.

ohh man washingtonpost, let's see

Not a single one of those donations was actually a personal gift of Trump’s own money.

Instead, according to a Washington Post analysis, many of the gifts that Trump cited to prove his generosity were free rounds of golf, given away by his courses for charity auctions and raffles
.

this is a lot of reading for a lot of bullshit tbh, what does Trumps money running out mean that he can't use the foundation? I mean just from the Graph right on the site

lhZcjI1
seems like a lot of that money comes from people who don't give a fuck about a million and if anything Trump earned at WWE from appearing in it and earned a lot of that money from the things he appears on

I didn't say that he couldn't direct donation funds. I said you can't say "Trump donated $5.5 million, so everything past that point is his money no matter if he claims in excess of $5.5 million."

Fair enough. What I am saying though is it is now their property as I freely donated it of my own will. The same as people did to Trump's foundation. And it now his money to use as he sees it as long as it's legal.

I don't think anyone is complaining that Trump is using foundation money for Hurricane Harvey relief. I think that they're complaining that he's making a big show about giving away his money for publicity, but then pays out of other people's funds.

Going back to the Goodwill example, if Jim Gibbons said "I'm personally donating $50 million to Harvey", and then it came out that he actually meant that he was taking $50 million from Goodwill and giving it to Harvey, people would also be mad at him.

Oh well in that case, to each their own. In the end no matter where the money comes from and from whom are secondary to the fact the people of Houston needs funds to rebuild from this disaster. Personally I don't care where Trump scoops the funds from. But I'm also the kind of person that if I could make a donation it'd be anonymous. So while I can see your point, it just doesn't matter to me because in this case the ends do justify the means.
