true

there are a few exceptions but obviously most college students don't major in them

For most non-STEM fields as mentioned above. There are some rare subsections of industry (commercial lending for one) where advanced degrees are still uncommon, but as everyone under 35 now has a bachelor's degree the value is cheapened.

Especially if you're STEM tbh.

You just about can't get hired with a Bachelor's these days.

Solution: don't do easy mode, do STEM if you want college to be worth it

I do, yes. Two years' experience is about comparable to a master's.

But the question is how you get that experience. I lucked out and got found by a company that decided it would be a hoot to hire some greenhorns and see how that worked out becase hey what's the risk when you barely have to pay them?

I guess in the end we reinforced the lack of faith in bachelor's since only one of the five of us ended up staying more than a year and a few months. I guess that's the risk when you barely pay your noobs. Though I actually quit because I got a new manager who demanded more hours for same pay.

Like I said, though, I lucked out. My classmates mostly went begrudgingly to grad school when they couldn't get hired.

I've actually had a harder time finding work with a Bachelor's in Psychology than I would have without it. Like, I was applying to minimum wage retail and management jobs (it's pretty much all we have in the area) and getting passed up for being overqualified.

The only jobs I've gotten were in youth centers, which don't require a degree anyway. The only benefit was that I got a slightly higher starting pay.
