Apparently Bethesda is charging for mods now or something and people are pissed? Where do they bomb games with bad reviews? I've heard of this happening with other games too but a google of "Fallout 4 review" reveals a horrid 9/10 and 88%

I'm not too familiar with what's going on, but from a surface look it looks like they're hiring modders to develop DLC and this is a problem for some reason.

it is like every other fuckin video game in the world that has ever come out

6 months to 1 year later, after everyone praises it, its cool to call it trash. then the previous entry (if it is a sequel, is automatically the better one)

They're not developing DLC. They're hiring "community creators" (modders) to make content (mods) to offer to consumers in exchange for for credits (paid for with money). Paid mods.

Now, shitty business practices aside, there are practical problems with it simply existing that have come to light as a result of the public beta;

As it stands now, all content on the Creation Club downloads to your SSD or regardless of whether or not you bought it, flooding your hard drive with content you don't use. It also updates the executable constantly, which more or less permanently breaks the Script Extender that many existing PC mods rely on. So even if you choose not use the CC, it's manages to fuck you over regardless.

Personally if I can only have one, I'd rather have the best modders making really high quality paid DLC than 1,000 free mods that give me one shot kill guns shaped like balloon animals

But their current track record suggests you're not getting the former, instead you're getting the same tiny free mods but now they cost money

If that's all you think mods are, then you're really uneducated on the subject.

As it stands now, ALL of the content on the creation club has already been done before on the Nexus, and not only does it work perfectly, but it's BETTER. High quality? Where the fuck are you getting that idea?

The nexus alone is home to hundreds, even thousand of mods for each of Bethesda's games that surpass anything that company has put out. You don't have to look any further than mods like "Beyond Skyrim", "The Forgotten City," "INIGO" or the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" to get an idea of that.

Hell, on that last one, the Unoffical Patches have been fixing ALL OF THE BUGS that Bugthesda just fucking neglects, and they've been doing it for YEARS.

It's sorta divisive among the fanbase due to the voiced protagonist, which directly affected how the conversation system got butchered down into it's current simplistic system.

Bombing the steam reviews is a thing people do to protest these days. Steam calculates a "score" based on positive vs negative user reviews, and a small red "mostly negative" flair shows up if it gets flooded with thumbs down.

who looks at steam reviews for anything besides entertainment though honestly lol
