My family moved there for jobs. Anything interesting to do there? First time going to California.

There ain't shit in Bakersfield. And I don't remember if it was there or somewhere very close but the entire area smelt like shit. It was awful.

But California is amazing even with that.

Check out California Living Museum (CALM) if you enjoy zoos and that sort of thing.

I really enjoy visiting that place from time to time.

Pretty close to Kernville, pretty nice and calm mountain town. Worth a visit

Bakersfield is mini Oklahoma. Have fun. LA and the mountains if you're into that aren't that far away though.

Bakersfield has some of the worst air pollution in this country. The mountain ranges and winds funnel all the LA pollution into bakersfield.

Its cheap living tho, so you can probably live well. It's also a short drive to LA and LV, which is nice. Not too far from some nice national parks.

Also, the heat at night during the summer is terrible. Expect to rely on your AC unit a lot.

The daytime goes without saying. It can average 90-100 degrees in the summer.
